Ride for Adam: The Milton Keynes to Berlin Bike Ride is on

A man from Milton Keynes is embarking on a gruelling 1155km bike ride in memory of his brother.

Adam Davison was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer in 2016.

He passed away in 2017, on his 37th birthday, leaving a wife and baby son, Freddie.

Now Joe Davison, and two of Adam's friends, Phil and Dave are ready to push off on a mammoth cycling adventure in memory of Adam – and they'll be raising money for the European Association of Cancer Research as they go.

“We chose the EACR as we want to support research collaborations across borders to fight cancer,” said Phil.
“This ride is also in tribute to other loved ones who have recently succumbed to the disease, and to those who survived it. It is unfortunately something that many of us have experienced.”

Adam was a huge part of the Milton Keynes music scene, and played with bands including Phema and Our Man in the Bronze Age.

His terrific talent on the bass, good nature and ability to get on with everyone made him a hugely popular figure, loved by everyone.

When he left Milton Keynes, he made a new life in Berlin, and the musicality continued - and Adam played in a band with Phil.

Naturally, the music communities in Milton Keynes and Berlin were devastated by the loss of Adam. But when Joe and Phil discovered a shared love of cycling, and the idea for this saddle excursion was thought up, it was the perfect way to unite the communities again.

As soon as the fundraising page went live, cash started flooding in – just days later they have already raised in excess of £1800. There is still plenty of time to donate in Adam's memory, and help make their time in the saddle a little easier!

Ride for Adam: The Milton Keynes to Berlin Bike Ride will begin on July 20. The trio hope to arrive in Berlin eight days later.
Joe, Phil and Dave know the ride will be a challenge, but they have the best support imaginable.

“I am proud to have Adam as my brother and he will keep us going,” Joe said, “We all think about Adam every day and he is missed greatly. Hopefully doing something testing and amazing while making some money for charity will be a small way to show that.”
