Scummy Mummies make tracks to Milton Keynes

The Stables at Wavendon swaps fine music for giggles this Wednesday (July 4) evening.

Nothing much unusual about that. After all, comedy features frequently in the venue listings.

But a night in the company of Scummy Mummies beckons on Wednesday, and it is being billed as 'an evening of laughs for less-than-perfect parents.'

Comedians Helen Thorn and Ellie Gibson will be the ladies at the microphone, and they are ready to cover a wide range of parenting topics; from pelvic floors and play-dates to farting and fish fingers. Apparently, songs, sketches, stand-up and very scummy stories will spill.

This show is based on the UK’s No.1 Kids and Family Podcast, which has been recommended by The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph and BBC’s Woman’s Hour.

The aforementioned ladies have a Scummy Mummies book out now – Ellie and Helen will be selling and signing copies after the performance, so take a few quid extra if you want to get connected.

They talked about being scummy, and being mummy, with Total MK...

The best thing about being a parent

Our kids! We do whinge on, but we love them so much. All the tantrums and tough days are worth it for the snuggles and the laughs.

And the worst

It depends what stage you're at! When they're babies it's the lack of sleep and the poonamis, then it's the whining, then there's school to deal with... SO MANY FORMS!

Plug the Milton Keynes show for us - what can we expect?

It's a show for less-than-perfect parents - in other words, all parents. There will be songs, sketches, stand-up, a chance for the audience to tell us their scummy stories, lots of wine, filth and laughs!

Will the Scummy Mummies ever make Scrummy Mummies?!

Nah. People seem to like it when we're honest about the realities of parenting, so we'll just keep doing what we're doing!

You can give a little plug to your book too, if you like...

Our book, Scummy Mummies, is for anyone who knows that parenting is tough, and the best way through is to have a good laugh about it. It is literally the best book we have ever written.
