This year’s 10-day MK Festival of Nature from Friday 6 to Sunday 15 July is an easy way for families to celebrate the beautiful and inspiring nature close to where they live, and in parts of the city they may have never explored before!
Thanks to the expert staff and volunteers at The Parks Trust, the MK Natural History Society and the local team from the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust, the Festival of Nature offers activities for people of all ages.
Linford Lakes Nature Reserve is hosting several events throughout the Festival, starting on Friday 6 July with an evening walk at to discover the nocturnal animals and insects that fly through the skies above the city.
Get Into Nature at intu in Milton Keynes on Saturday 7 July, where the Wildlife Trust will be displaying entries from the 5 Days Wild scrapbook challenge which local schools have been taking part in.
Create your own mini-wildlife garden at the Garden Life event on Tuesday 10 July at Linford Lakes Nature Reserve, and pick up lots of ideas to try out in your garden at home.
The new Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve reveals its unusual wetland wildlife when experts from the Milton Keynes Natural History Society take visitors on a special guided walk on Tuesday 10 July.
Discover dragonflies and wetland birds around the lakes at Stony Stratford Nature Reserve with The Parks Trust Outdoor Learning team’s guided walks on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 July.
Teens go wild at Linford Lakes Nature Reserve on Thursday 12 July, when 12 to 15 year olds can enjoy an evening of adventure, including fire making and camp cooking, pond dipping, searching for bugs, mammals and birds.
This is the second year for the partnership of The Parks Trust, the MK Natural History Society and Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust organising the city’s Festival of Nature.
Everybody had so much during the week-long festival last year that it’s now a 10-day extravaganza!
