THE WAY WE WERE: 1000 YEARS OF HISTORY AT MK MUSEUM

More than one thousand years of living history in one visit.

That's what's on offer at MK Museum this weekend, when it hosts its ever-popular History Festival.

From making medieval coins to firing guns like those used during the English Civil War, the two day hands-on adventure (Sat & Sun, May 9 &10) will let you fill your boots in a bygone fashion!

You will be able to see how people lived, worked, ate and occupied themselves during the early years of Henry VIII's reign, when the 22 year-old King had been on the throne for just four years and was forced to defend his kingdom from the Scots at the bloody Battle of Flodden.

War of the Roses re-enactors from the Oxford Household will bring authenticity to the unfolding events.

Elsewhere on site you can check in with the Saxons and Vikings, and sample some medieval moments before bringing things almost up-to-date - with a 1940's tableau courtesy of MK's own Harry and Edna.

The festival is a fantastic event for all ages but now we can also say it is a taster of what is to come when our expansion is complete in 2018,” said museum director  Bill Griffiths.

This area has played a significant role throughout many eras of history and we are looking forward to telling those stories in really exciting ways.”

A family ticket costs £22 and allows two adults and up to four children entry.  That's a whole lot of history for not a lot of cash!

The museum will welcome visitors between 11am and 4pm both days. For more information click across to www.mkmuseum.org.uk
