If there is one story guaranteed to make a splash, it's the forthcoming Swimathon at Stantonbury Leisure Centre. The Rotary Club of Milton Keynes organises the annual event, and since its launch in 1994 an incredible £450,000 has been raised.
Most of the money swells the coffers of local charities.
Recipients of this year's event - being held on Saturday, March 12 - are The Mayor's Charities, MK Hospital and Royal British Legion who will be supported along with Willen Hospice, Supershoes, Thames Valley Air Ambulance, Age UK Milton Keynes and Dogs for Good.
Teams of up to six people are invited to partake, and you don't need to be an expert swimmer – if you can swim a length (33 metres) unaided, you can participate.
All you need to be prepared to do is give up an hour of your time and get your friends to sponsor you!
Teams wishing to participate need to register for the event by the end of February.
