The Weston Underwood Art Group will be hoping to make a splash when they reveal their new exhibition at the Three Hares Gallery in the Olney's Cowper & Newton Museum on Wednesday (March 30).
10 Years On is a simple enough title, chosen to reflect the group hitting its decade milestone.
Under the banner, 15 artists will be displaying various media.
Len Hollman, a potter and retired art teacher, formed the group, which originally operated as an acrylic painting course with a handful of members.
This exhibition, the fifth by the collective, will show the expansion in styles perfectly – with work in watercolour, pastel, pen & ink, oil and print...and some of those acrylic works.
“From the beginning, rather than teaching by example or group instruction, my emphasis has been placed on regularly appraising and discussing each member's developing work on a one-to-one basis,” Len explained.
“Inspiration has been sought through looking critically at the work of artists and craftspeople from all periods and cultures.”
Jackie Atkinson - that's her picture, Jenny Wren, above - is thrilled with the talent she discovered when she became a member.
“For most of my life I believed that I couldn't draw or paint,” she said.
“Since joining the group, I've realised that I had just never learned how to.”
10 Years On will be open Tuesday-Saturday, 10.30am to 4.30pm, through to April 28.
Entry is free, via the museum entrance.
