At MK Gallery on Thursday (August 13), artist John Strutton will be holding court.
His work has taken the form of drawing, painting, installation and musical performance, and for more than 12 years he has been making a series of drawings using an old wind-up gramophone to produce facsimiles of 7” records.
More recently, this activity has evolved into a performance piece, as Strutton will display, accompanied by musician Riccardo Carbone for the MK Calling 2015 event.
Those in the know say '...the emphasis will shift from the product to the process, and focus more on the ritualistic aspect of making; a kind of séance in which Carbone and Strutton attempt to give voice to the information being inscribed on the paper.'
London-based sound artist Leslie Deere (pictured) will also appear.
Intrigued? Entry is free and things get underway at 7pm.
Tickets still need to be pre-booked though. Source online at www.mkgallery.org
