A new collection of limited edition graphics by Bob Dylan will be unveiled at a Milton Keynes gallery today (October 5).
Mondo Scripto has been released by the UK’s leading fine art publisher, Washington Green Fine Art, and will be available to buy from Castle Fine Art in centre:mk
The first of its kind from Dylan, the collection features a selection of the artist’s most renowned lyrics, each handwritten by him in pen on paper and accompanied by an original pencil drawing offering for the very first time ever a visual representation of the lyrics by the artist.
The body of work reflects Dylan’s tendency to return to his songs again and again, both musically and lyrically, continually tweaking and reworking them.
In some of the graphics it is apparent that he has changed a few lines of the song. In others, including ‘Gotta Serve Somebody’ (1979) and ‘If You See Her, Say Hello’ (1975), verses have been completely redrafted.
Speaking ahead of the collection launch, Peter Viet-Lu, gallery manager for Castle Fine Art, Milton Keynes, said: “Mondo Scripto embodies the beginning of a new age in Bob Dylan’s visual arts journey to date, so it’s a privilege to unveil these works at our gallery.
“This collection is unlike anything we have ever seen from Dylan. We expect the graphics to sell out fast, so anyone interested should contact the gallery as soon as possible.”
