A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.
Directors: Will Becher, Richard Phelan. (U)
Animation
Rating: 3/5 - worth watching
Synopsis
Head sheep Shaun leads a flock of rowdy ruminants, the most mischievous mammals on Mossy Bottom Farm. They refuse to be shepherded into a corner by the steely eyed sheepdog, regularly breaking ranks to throw a frisbee, go ballooning or cook up a BBQ.
But when a UFO lands nearby, Shaun steps up and becomes all serious to help lost alien Lu La, especially when a mysterious organisation appear who are intent on capturing her.
Review by @Reelreviewer
Aardman animations are down on the farm and - in some part - are a bit in the manure as well, if their latest effort is anything to go by.
Shaun the Sheep has never been top drawer Aardman - the studio who brought us the hilarious delights of Wallace and Gromit and the succinctly satisfying Creature Comforts short films.
This feature length production charms and has a toe-tapping soundtrack that includes The Chemical Brothers and children around the world will no doubt be delighted.
But the payoff for modern animated movies is that grown-ups get a sneaky bit of entertainment just for them.
Farmageddon doesn't quite get there, but it's still one to see.
