Milton Keynes Literary Festival returns this September

Put that book down and pay attention - Miulton Keynes Lit Fest is back!

Celebrating everything bookish or wordy, Milton Keynes Literary Festival returns for its third year from 18 to 22 September, with an absolute wealth of authors, poets, performers and workshops.

MK Lit Fest 2019 will take place in the city’s state-of-the-art cultural hub, MK Gallery, and all are welcome to come along to meet renowned authors, discover new favourites, get books signed – or even take part in a wordsmithing workshop.

Fiction fans and literary types will recognise bestselling and award-winning authors such as Lissa Evans, Chris Ryan, Toby Litt, Preti Taneja and Sam Byers. And we have a wealth of stellar non- fiction too, with Paul Mason, Carrie Gracie, Jack Monroe, Dan Cruickshank, Kassia St Clair and cycling phenomenon Jools Walker (aka Lady Vèlo).

For those seeking fresh new voices, we bring you short story writers Lisa Blower and Chris Power, and rising poets Mary Jean Chan and Luke Kennard.

For writers, we have workshops with professional practitioners to help you edit your own writing, pitch your work to agents, write a memoir, and dip your toes into screenwriting. We even have events for dog lovers with Simon Garfield, and Colin Butcher and his UK Pet Detectives sidekick, Molly the Dog.

We’ve cast our net and kept our focus wide, but local talents and local icons aren’t forgotten either. The Festival starts with a special edition of the spoken-word/poetry event, Ouse Muse, and also includes a session where Alan Turing’s biographer, Andrew Hodges, will be in conversation with his nephew, Sir Dermot Turing.

With 23 events across the whole programme, there’s a title for everyone and they’re all page-turners!
