Climax Blues Band make welcome return to Milton Keynes

The Climax Blues Band have a half century of music-making under their collective belt, and their body of work includes success that flowed through the 70s and the 80s via some big selling albums and a couple of big hits.

Indeed, their 70s single Couldn't Get It Right hit the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic.

When frontman and founding member Colin Cooper lost his battle with cancer in 2008, the band could have called time on the sounds. But that wasn't Colin's wish. He wanted the band to continue on their journey, pushing out their blues blend.

And his wish has been carried out; In 2012, former Milton Keynes music man Graham Dee took charge at the mic.

And we're telling you all this, because...?

Because the band has just released a new collection of music, and next week they'll be heading to these parts.

Hands of Time is the band's 21st album, and pulls together a fine mix of bluesy, funk, soul and jazz rock - the very same recipe that has struck the right chord with fans again and again.

The album was released in January, and swiftly landed in the top spot in the iTunes Blues Chart.  It doesn't come any better than that!

But that's not to say the sextet are playing things safe – this delivery also brings a more modern feel to the fore.

Colin's legacy continues too, and his vocals and sax skills are for the taking on the bonus track, Getting There.

Back in Milton Keynes, fans of Graham - who used to head up The Blues Collective in the city – are in luck too; The Climax Blues Band play The Stables next Wednesday, March 13.
