Anyone for some music?
The folks behind The Sunset Lounge are holding an all day fundraiser in support of The Cannon in Newport Pagnell.
The Cannon is a place where you pop in, sink a few pints and enjoy the warm welcome. Sadly, it's not a place where you go for one of those substantial meals, and as such, they are unable to open in the present time.
The venue has been a huge support of local music makers over the past few year, and is a regular base for The Sunset Lounge mic spots, who are putting on Saturday's (Dec 12) online gig to swell the coffers.
"It is putting a huge strain on finances for landlady Molly and her family. It is also having a massive impact on The Sunset Lounge, as not only are we still not able to put on our Open Mic every Thursday, but we are still not able to put any gigs on and have had to cancel all up coming gigs until restrictions are lifted," said organiser Gareth Warren.
"For the last 15 years, The Cannon has been my second home and a second home to many more before me, due to it's unrivalled atmosphere and it's unflinching support for the local arts.
"The place and what it means to people is honestly hard to put into words, but I and others cannot sit by and watch it fall victim to the awful times we are all going through.
"Therefore, I am setting this up so that we can give some of the love back to them that they have effortlessly given to us over the years!" Gareth added.
