Trivium will be bringing the noise to the main stage at this year's Download Festival, much to the delight of their army of fans.
The Orlando-based collective is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2019, and it's 15 years since they first held Download festival-goers hostage. Bassist Paolo Gregoletto says they are looking forward to their main stage return.
He talked setlists, naps, wellies and all the fun of the festival with Total MK...
How special is it to be playing Download - the British home of rock and metal?
Download has always had a special place in our hearts ever since the very first set we played there in 2005. It really helped launch our band right out of the gate and we are always excited to be asked back every few years.
This will be our sixth appearance and hopefully will live up to the legacy of all the acts that have played before us.
What can the Download faithful expect from your set?
We will be mixing in the heavy hitter classic Trivium songs that have to be in the set along with a few newer songs from The Sin and The Sentence.
After the reception the new album got on the last UK tour I feel confident in saying that you won’t want to miss any part of the set we are planning.
How will you spend the rest of your time on the site?
We are flying in early that morning from another festival, so first I’m going to make sure I take a quick nap on the ride up to the festival.
I really want to make sure I’m not dragging that day, since I wanna see some bands and catch up with friends that will be there.
Anyone else on the bill you'll be keen to check out?
Die Antwoord and Slipknot will be the two I have to see for sure. But I really have to see when we arrive and how much press we have in order to plan to catch some of the other stages and bands.
There is always more bands I want to see than my schedule will usually allow, but it’s a good problem to have.
What three festival essentials should Download ticket-holders be sure to pack before heading to the site?
Sunscreen, Wellies/Rainboots, and a few pairs of earplugs!
And festivals aside, what's going on with the band for the rest of 2019?
We are wrapping up our current album cycle with these festivals and few more shows later in the year. We will probably starting figuring out what’s next after it’s all done.
Matt just had twins so he’s got his hands full at home!
