Scottish rockers The Fratellis have today been confirmed as the headline act for AmpRocks 2016.
They take to the stage in the stunning Ampthill Park, Bedfordshire, on Friday July 1 – kicking off the three-day Ampthill Festival.
Since winning the Best British Breakthrough gong at the 2007 Brit Awards, the Glaswegian three-piece have enjoyed huge success over the past decade.
The first of their four albums – Costello Music – sold more than one million copies in the UK alone, while the lads have enjoyed a string of Top 10 hits, their most famous being the anthemic ‘Chelsea Dagger’.
The Fratellis follow in the footsteps of Razorlight (2015), Happy Mondays (2014), Toploader (2013) and The Feeling (2012) in headlining AmpRocks.
“This is another great coup for AmpRocks – we are absolutely thrilled to welcome a group of The Fratellis’ stature to Ampthill,” said AmpRocks Chairman, Mark Tiana.
“Our aim every year is to improve on last year and we are in negotiations with an exciting range of acts that will appeal to both young and old - the full line-up will be revealed soon.”
The first tranche of tickets for AmpRocks 2016 sold out online in just 22 minutes after going on sale last month. The arena capacity inside Ampthill Park has also been increased to 6,000 this year to cope with growing demand following 5,000 sell-outs for the past two years.
AmpRocks prides itself on being a truly local event – approximately 90% of tickets for Amprocks 2015 were sold within a five-mile radius of the town.
The next batch of tickets - priced £25 – go on sale on amprocks.eventbrite.co.uk and are available from noon today (March 11).
