Pure NRG is artist union, a mission statement and live-on-stage concept concert all wrapped up into one.
Pure NRG is what happens when two forces of trance nature meet kinetically to perform their music live on stage.
Those two forces are Solarstone and Giuseppe Ottaviani and they will sizzle in the Cosmic Meadow at next month's Electric Daisy Carnival, at the National Bowl.
One is a scene legend and the powerhouse behind the rolling boulder that is the Pure Trance movement.
The other, the first man on the planet to imagine - and then deliver - trance as a live artist performance, and prime mover in the seminal, millennial Nu-NRG group.
Together they call themselves Pure NRG, a connection of musical minds, creative ability and on-stage performance magnetism.
But you know that much already.
They spoke to Total MK about making their EDC debut...
EDC boasts an unparalleled artist line-up. Tell us what you bring to the party that is unique R: PureNRG is unique in the world of trance, we write and produce tracks and remixes exclusively for our shows, and perform those tracks authentically live on stage. No two shows are ever the same. G: The thing that sets a live show apart is the fact you can improvise on stage playing every time in a different way, changing the sounds, the melodies and the structure of a song and so on.
Fun for us, fun for the crowd.
How important is EDC as a brand? R: The fact that it’s existed since 1997 is important in itself as few festivals can have the depth of understanding of their audience of EDC thanks to it’s longevity.
Tell us about your best EDC experience so far - on stage, or off R: This year in Milton Keynes will be my first EDC! G: Same here, EDC debut for me.
Who will you be most looking forward to checking in with on the day? R: The B2B of Suckley & Kearney should be fun, and of course looking forward to what JOC will be bringing to the table. G: I’d love to check out Ilan Bluestone, and Marco Carola, it’s been a while. And of course Paul van Dyk, how I could not?
Your own set aside, how will you spend the rest of the day? R: Hanging out with my buddies JOC, Bryan, Jordan and Giuseppe of course, sampling the hospitality G: Correct. Plus I will be streaming from Periscope to share some exclusive backstage footage with our fans
EDC takes the live experience to a new level, but how do these huge outdoor events vary from the more usual show for you? R: PureNRG was made for events like this, it’s all about the big shows and reaching a large audience, our music is very stripped back and raw – perfect for the big sound systems. G: Not that we dislike clubs, but with all the preparation and hard work behind, when it comes to PureNRG, the bigger the better. It was set up as a show that works best on a stage, rather than a small DJ booth.
EDC aside, what does the rest of the summer have in store for you? R: This summer PureNRG will be appearing at most of the big festivals in Europe, including Electronic Family and Tomorrowland, and also Cream in Ibiza.
As for Solarstone, I’m focusing on my Pure Trance events – also in Ibiza – with some great lineups.
G: As Giuseppe Ottaviani I’ll be a proud member of Rich’s Pure Trance events but also very excited to bring my new brand GOONAIR Nights for the first time in USA, Canada and Ibiza of course after the first events in London and Italy earlier this year.
Give us your tips for the sounds of the summer, 2015 R: It’s all about the rebirth of Trance, with the sound of Pure Trance leading the charge. There's a whole new generation of fans out there for this music who I am looking forward to playing to.
G: There’s a big hype for Trance music around the next generation of fans so it may be just the right time to come to one of our shows and check it out.
