The folks behind the Forest Folk and Roots promotion bring the blues to the stage, with John Emil & The King Biscuit Boys this Friday night (September 16).
With the College Arms Bar now fully refurbished following the flooding earlier in the year, venue wise things are back to normal, and the only thing flooding the venue this week will be the wonderful sounds of Floridian John Emil's guitar playing.
He's a master of the slide guitar, and can pull the goods on the acoustic, Hawaiian lap steel guitar and Dobro, and those who tip their ears his way say his playability is reminiscent of Delta bluesmen Son House and Blind Willie Johnson, but there's a unique side here too, and he punctuates his country blues, folk and bluegrass with a twang of Hawaiian!
The last time Emin toured these shores was in 2012, so get your skates on this time, and make it along nice and early for The King Biscuit Boys.
They'll warm you up nicely with an assortment of original material and covers from Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles and The Rolling Stones.
Tickets are £10 (£5 for students) and doors open at 7.30pm, ready for the live stuff from 8pm.
