Vintage Stony 2025 declared a huge success

Despite being three months late due to the appaling weather at the start of the year, the annual New Years Day Vintage Stony Gathering in Stony Stratford was a huge success when it finally got into gear last week.

Organisers suggested it might have been a record attendance by the public too, who enjoyed the spectacle of a town full of both vintage and classic automobilia - and some glorious weather.

Now in its 15th year the gathering is firmly part of the annual vintage and classic car calendar.

Perhaps uniquely it is the only event that is entirely free to those who want to see a magnificent display of vintage and classics which, quite literally, engulfs an entire town.

Put together by a group of dedicated volunteers, it still retains its local grass roots feel but is now attracting some prize examples of our motoring history.

The Best in Show was awarded to a magnificent example of a 1913 Torpedo bodied 25 hp 4SB Talbot Model 25/50 owned by Rob & Leo Harrison. Originally owned by Oakes Brothers, with trading connections to India & China, this vehicle seemed to have been kept by the Mr Oakes as his personal car unlike two subsequent models (IC104 & IC105) which were used for racing.

“Vintage Stony was a tremendous success and fully justified its postponement from its normal New Years Day date," said David Storer, Chairman of the Vintage & Classic Event Team, "The sun shone gloriously throughout the day and record numbers of the general public filled the town until it was completely full to see both vintage and classic cars, bikes and military vehicles all being displayed by their proud owners”
