Forest Folk & Roots present London alt-folk duo Stables

On Friday (February 17) the Forest, Folk & roots promotion presents alt-folk duo Stables. The London based acoustic duo offer a sound on many tracks something akin to Mumford and Sons.

Formed in early 2016 by Matthew Lowe (Keston Cobblers’ Club) and Daniel Rymer Trenholme (The Lost Cavalry) the duo have already released one album, Beyond Brushes and are currently writing their second.

They’ve been playing together from their days at school; after forming the successful folk-pop band Keston Cobblers Club, Daniel moved on to study architecture whilst drumming for The Lost Cavalry and Matthew continued to write and perform with The Cobblers and composing for films.

The two have finally decided to pair up and embark on a new musical journey.

Stables is a duo, but with the inclusion of notable musicians at larger shows and they rustle up a full orchestra in many recordings, so the the range of their sound can vary hugely.

“I always wanted to create a simple sound, that could then be taken further when needed,” says Matthew.

“From a small club, to a large festival stage, Stables is for two people who love to compose and perform, but it's not exclusive.

“Our goal is to fit in wherever we may play and by doing so, we embrace the idea of change from set to set, track to track with the underlining principle that we enjoy ourselves and the audience enjoy themselves. It's simple and that keeps it fun.”

Doors open at 7.30pm at The College Arms Bar in Cranfield, and the music goes live from 8pm.

Tickets are £10 (£5 for students).
