In the second of her diary extracts for us, Lesley Kahney gives us a flavour of life volunteering on Eilean Ban...including otter watching at breakfast!
The wild and wintry weather (above) has now given way to bright sunshine, crystal air and blue seas. The view from the Bright Water Centre is peaceful.
A family of otters shows up most days.
I sit at breakfast and have the magical experience of watching a mother otter with two younger ones play fighting, while a larger dog otter swims around the island diving and eating.
Interesting people from all walks of life and from all over the world come and visit the centre, possibly to go on one of the tours of the White Island.
More soon...
