One of the city’s biggest business brands turned up the volume and sounded out loud and proud in support of Milton Keynes’ 50th birthday on Wednesday.
Denbigh-based Marshall Amplification hosted a rousing rendition of the classic Led Zeppelin track, Rock & Roll in its onsite theatre - and they utilised the talents of 50 guitarists to play it at the same time!
The fret-feelers - ranging from school children to professional recording artists - played the track in unison on 50 limited edition MS2 amps.
“Marshall Amplification is all about living through music, and Rock and Roll was the perfect song to express that,” said Jon Ellery, managing director at Marshall Amplification.
“We are a global brand but are passionate about Milton Keynes, and proud to call the new city our home. We wanted to make a real noise about Milton Keynes for its special birthday, and we certainly achieved that"
Music fans joined Terry Marshall, MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman and singer Brian Poole at the event.
The ’50 for 50’ performance was followed by a storming live set by King Creature - one of the first bands to sign with the newly created Marshall Records label. They issued their debut album yesterday (Sept 29), and were personally selected by Motörhead frontman Lemmy to support the band on their last UK tour.
