Alternative quartet Daytime TV have released a new anthem for the summer of 2026 as they announce a UK tour, which will bring them to Milton Keynes in October.
‘Sun’, out now on Marshall Records, opens with a guitar signature and an undeniable vocal hook before a heavy, dancefloor-filling groove kicks in.
The band have announced intimate tour dates across the UK, which will see the tour bus pull into Wolverton for a Craufurd Arms date on October 17.
The upcoming tour is in association with Music Venue Trust and Marshall 'Keep Live Music Alive' campaigns to help keep the grassroots music scene thriving.
On June 3, Daytime TV will play the BME stage at SXSW in London, while on June 10 they will play a special party at Blondies Brewery in London to celebrate 10 years of Marshall Records, along with Cancer Bats, Big Truck and Ashaine White.
‘Sun’ comes with a video featuring the dancing, costumed figure of the Sun, careering across the land.
“As soon as the song ‘Sun’ came together, we knew it was a summer banger," said singer Will Irvine, "It’s about going to your happy place in your head, blocking out the chaos and stripping things back to the primal basics of just being an animal on a planet.
“The song feels like summer and that’s exactly what we wanted it to be. It’s a happy place to go to in your mind. I wrote that big chorus years ago, and it got parked but just kept finding myself singing it. Then, when we got back together to write it just came together really quickly.
“It shows a side of us that’s a bit more relaxed and dancey than dark and serious.”
The track comes with a new music video from Sam McGill, which sees The Sun, in the form of a costumed figure, seizing the day and dancing across the deserted landscape.
Will said: “With this new music we decided to properly let ourselves go, and not take ourselves so seriously. If we want to put a Sun costume on because it’s how the music makes us feel, we’ll do it. It’s quite free. In fact the dancer we had lined up to play the role fell through so Naomi and Gareth stepped in - they were the only ones who would fit in it!
“We can’t wait to get out on tour because playing live is why this band exists. We want to be one of the biggest live acts in the world.
"That connection between the crowd and a band giving everything they’ve got can’t be beaten. Our fans have always been amazing at giving that energy back. The exciting thing now is that we have all these new songs to take to people.”
