Several things are guaranteed when it comes to MK Theatre's annual season of events; that the brochures will be brimming with quality stage-fillers, that the annual pantomime will set up shop and raise smiles during the festive period, and that once a year, around this time, singer-songwriter Paul Carrack will make his annual visit.
And Paul is back here in the new city this Thursday evening (January 21), as part of a 34-date tour of his favourite venues.
The Sheffield-born singer-songwriter with one of the best loved voices in the business, has spells under his belt as former frontman with Ace, Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics.
We always name check those acts, but of course Carrack has built up a marvellous catalogue of sounds in his own name too, and he'll doubtless dig into a fair few of those at this evening's show. Music from his new album Soul Shadows will be a given, too.
His songs have been covered by artists including The Eagles, Diana Ross and Tom Jones, and when not on the road in his own right, he is in demand for his ace ability as a session keyboardist – and has recorded and toured with Elton John and Van Morrison.
The press release calls him 'an all-rounded musical talent,' and there can be no denying that.
