There's an Elephant in the Room for Forest Folk and Roots

Last month's adverse weather is still causing problems for the College Arms Bar in Cranfield, which means this Friday's (July 15) Forest Folk and Roots gig with Elephant in the Room has been shifted to the snug of OSO Coffee and Cake.

Elephant in the Room is the evolution of the musings of one bloke who played bass in a prog rock band years ago, and then had a 30 year breakbefore deciding to write his own contemporary acoustic roots music.

Well, there's no point in rushing these things...it's got to feel right.

Carl Scott then teamed up with guitarist Fern Teather and percussionist Sam Thurlow.

That was three or so years back, and since then they've been busty on the East Anglia and London circuit, and a debut EP Roomers was issued late in 2015.  An album is on it's way too.

Fern and Sam will play their own set at the show too, with music that draws from her love of reading and her quirky take on life's more reflective moments.
Fern weaves them into lyrics and melodies so expressive that the shivers down the spine feeling is a given when she sings.

A love of artists including Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Laura marling has served her well, and her folk-edged Americana has just been put to disc on the new album Hiding in the Dark.

She says the collection of tracks deals with friendships, relationships, hope, reflections and taking risks.

Doors open at 7.30pm on Friday, with the music cutting loose from 8pm.
