CHARITIES BENEFIT FROM LOCAL WINNERS
Well done to all the folks who supported Music for Movember, held last week at The Slug & Lettuce in the Theatre District.
Collectively, punters raised a fantastic £1600 for the charity.
"The event itself was a fantastic success and I was thrilled with the turnout, which is growing year on year," said organiser Dean Oakley. "Coupled with the raffle we have raised an amazing £1600 for the charity and I would like to thank everyone that has helped with, and supported, Music For Movember."
> Total MKs Al Hunter (above) stepped out for the fourth year running, raising another £300 for the Movember kitty.
"Even in these cash strapped times, I'm amazed by people's generosity - a big thank you to all those who supported me," Al said.
You could say it was a Mo-vellous result. And you'd be right.
Interdirect, Milton Keynes’ leading full service agency have been fundraising too, taking part in the UK’s first ever #GivingTuesday event by completing the ID Endurance Mann challenge.
Nicholas Mann - owner and managing director of Interdirect - took on as many extreme sports activities as possible in eight hours, raising more than £300 for the MK Community Foundation’s Surviving Winter fund.
The fund supports elderly and vulnerable people during the winter months through initiatives such as the Food Bank and the Winter Night Shelter.
Nick and his team certainly put the effort in - with a two mile swim, taking to the slopes and a three mile run in Campbell Park...and that was just the morning's activities!
In the afternoon he reached new heights scaling the Ellis Brigham climbing wall at Xscape MK before visiting AirKix and calling time on a day of excess at the new indoor trampoline park in Bletchley, Bounce.
Oh, and he did run down Midsummer Boulevard to meet the Milton Keynes Community Foundation team and be crowned the most creative fundraisers in the new city. No half measures here!
“I would like to thank everyone that was involved in our #GivingTuesday ID Endurance Mann challenge; those that supported us by watching and donating, the team that took part, and also the companies in Milton Keynes that donated their time and instruction to help this fantastic cause,” Nick said.
