Be a part of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations by joining beacon lighting ceremonies around the world on Thursday 21st April.
That’s the invitation from Milton Keynes Museum and Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council, who’ve teamed up to be a part of the national chain of beacons on the Queen’s birthday.
Her Majesty will start things off by lighting the principal beacon at Windsor Castle – signalling the start of the chain that will see more than 1,000 beacons lit in towns and villages across the UK and Commonwealth.
Among those taking part are the Army Cadet Force who will carry gas beacons to the summits of the UK’s four highest peaks: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Slieve Donard.
The celebrations at MK Museum will include live music from local bands, barrels of beer, and other entertainments – before the beacon is lit at 8.15pm.
The beacon itself is the same one used for previous ceremonies at Campbell Park, including jubilees and the Fire over England celebrations.
Entry on the night is free, with a chance to look around the Museum free of charge.
