Milton Keynes' Heritage Open Days 2017 were the most successful to date

Milton Keynes residents made the most of free admission to key attractions during last weekend’s MK Heritage Open Days - with record numbers of visitors turning out to enjoy more than 70 events in the area.

Milton Keynes Museum, Chandos Hall Museum in Newport Pagnell and St Lawrence's church in Broughton were among the participants, giving visitors the chance to turn back the clock and investigate our past.

A host of other local venues, historic sites and churches opened their doors with hands-on activities, performances, archive film screenings and guided tours exploring many different facets of Milton Keynes’ rich heritage.

Outdoor event specialists Festive Road (pictured) hosted an open day and in Simpson, the sixties returned by way of an exhibition.

A Projected Picture Trust pop up cinema at MK Museum and MK CDC event also proved popular.

Visitors were invited to leave comments following their visits, and there were many, many compliments, like this one following the Living Archive film screenings: “I really enjoyed the positivity and optimism of the film, put a smile on my face, particularly after seeing the Milton Keynes and Me programme on tv that was so negative. I have lived in MK since 1980, so almost a pioneer! I love living here!”

Heritage Open Days will return in September 2018.
