In honour of Greg Rutherford’s Olympic Bronze in Rio and to demonstrate just how far 8 metres and 29 centimetres is, Revolucion de Cuba in the Theatre District measured out the exact distance…in shot glasses!
In total, it took 182 red, white and blue shot glasses to create the equal distance to show customers what a truly amazing achievement it really was. Staff and customers then attempted to jump the distance – the same length as two average sized cars parked bumper to bumper – but the furthest jump achieved was 5m 40cm.
Next Friday (August 26) between 5pm and 7pm, Revolucion de Cuba is inviting customers, and Greg, to come down to the bar and salute his success with a complimentary Caipirinha cocktail for EVERYONE!
“Until you physically see how far 8.3 metres is, it’s very hard to comprehend what an incredible jump Greg made. We’re incredibly proud of him for taking the bronze and being placed in the top three long jumpers in the world – this is amazing for Team GB and Milton Keynes. Well done from us all," said general manager at Revolucion de Cuba, Rob Macdonald.
Revolucion de Cuba will also be putting Greg Rutherford’s name on their infamous Rum Board – a list of local people that have helped the bar, visited and are well loved in MK.
