A group of adventurous fundraisers who embarked on a trek across Vietnam, raising more than £60k for Willen Hospice have been officially thanked for their support
The 12 intrepid trekkers took on the eight day challenge in October 2017, following a route that saw them travel through the jungle, rural Thai villages, rice terraces and the Pu Luong range.
It was the first of its kind organised by the Hospice.
Peta Wilkinson, Willen Hospice chief executive, said: “We are so incredibly grateful and proud of our Vietnam team. This was our first overseas challenge and our trekkers gave their hearts and souls to make it a success. We cannot thank them enough. We saw some amazing fundraising from each and every one and I know they had an experience that they will never forget.”
Willen Hospice needs to raise £3.6M a year, that’s £7 a minute, to continue to provide specialist end of life care to patients and their families in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
Willen Hospice plans to announce their next overseas adventure soon.
The charity also organises a number of challenges throughout the year, including cycling, running, skydiving and many more.
