The Parks Trust officially opened their new marina on Tuesday in the heart of Milton Keynes - and the first boats have sailed in and moored up.
Campbell Wharf Marina is a state of the art, purpose-built marina located on the Grand Union Canal. Although the canal has existed for many years, this marina has been newly excavated and is situated next to Campbell Park in the centre of the city. The new marina is the perfect blend of town and country living.
The marina offers 111 berths which have been designed to accommodate wide beams, narrow boats and cruisers. Each of the secure and quiet moorings have direct access to electricity and water and the essentials such as diesel, coal, gas, pump out and waste disposal facilities. Boat owners will also find WIFI throughout the site as well as a purpose-built facility building with showers, toilets and a laundry room.
The marina was built as part of the wider Campbell Wharf development and developers Crest Nicolson undertook its construction. Once the marina was completed, The Parks Trust purchased it and have appointed experienced operators Land and Water Estates to operate it on their behalf.
The Parks Trust is a self-financing charity who generates income from its commercial property portfolio allowing for the upkeep for the parks across Milton Keynes. Purchasing the marina adds to The Parks Trust’s commercial portfolio but also the marina adds another attractive feature to The Parks Trust’s green spaces.
Campbell Wharf marina is a short walk from central Milton Keynes, with its shopping and leisure destinations including Xscape, centre:mk, MK theatre and gallery and a wide selection of pubs and restaurants.
