Fringe Fest 2016: Trailer/Trash

Trailer/Trash is one of those pieces being performed under the Fringe banner.

It is a comedy which deals sensitively with transgender, from the pen of Bedford-based writer Mike Elliston.

The original script was lost in a fire at a major London fringe venue, and then its creator received Arts Council Funding to develop it further.

Eventually, Rosemary Hill from our favourite The Play's The Thing Company was introduced to the work, much to the delight of Mike.

His extensive background includes scripte editing and writing on all manner of series and soaps. Oh, and not forgetting the original Star Wars Trilogy release...

Pairing his talent with that of The Play's The Thing, and Rosemary is a perfect meeting.
'It's a buddy movie without the popcorn, a road trip without the car,' they say.

'Frankie and Shyanne live their lives as if they're stars of their own movie – they just don't know it.

Playing against type and exploring the American dream, sexual exploitation and gender identity, Trailer/Trash is a fierce comedy that embraces the young and feisty Frankie, a waitress in backwater diner who hates her job, her body and longs to be a man, and an ageing Afro-American stripper, Shyanne, who dreams of becoming a star in Las Vegas, but has lived too long with a lifetime of regrets.'

Strong language and sexual references figure in the work, but if you are good with that, make sure to get a ticket.

Trailer/Trash shows as MK Gallery Event Space from Wednesday (July 13) to Friday (July 15) at 8pm nightly.

Tickets are on sale at £12 and £10 and you book them through http://bit.ly/buyyourticketnow
