Flip the script on the greatest love story ever told when pop-infused, romantic-comedy musical & Juliet visits Milton Keynes Theatre this March, writes Georgina Butler.
The smash-hit show shakes up the Bard’s tale, responding to the question: what would happen next if Juliet didn’t end it all over Romeo? Theatregoers can expect to be whisked away on a fabulous journey of self-discovery as Juliet ditches her famous ending for a fresh beginning.
Juliet’s second-chance story bursts to life through a powerful playlist of pop anthems by Swedish songwriter, producer and singer Max Martin. Having worked with some of the biggest names in music over the last three decades, he is responsible for chart-topping hits from the likes of Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, Katy Perry, Ellie Goulding, Ariana Grande…
Prepare for a joyous jukebox musical that proves there is life after Romeo.
& Juliet was created by David West Read (an Emmy-winning writer from Canadian television sitcom Schitt’s Creek) and is considered a roaring global success. It premiered in Manchester in September 2019 then thrilled audiences in London’s West End between November 2019 and March 2023, receiving three Olivier awards and six WhatsOnStage awards.
Performances in Milton Keynes will star Jay McGuiness (best known as one fifth of boyband The Wanted and winner of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2015) as Shakespeare and Lee Latchford-Evans (best known as one fifth of pop phenomenon Steps) as Lance.
Running time: Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, including an interval.
Contains flashing lights, loud noises and some adult language.
Age guidance: 8+
& Juliet is at Milton Keynes Theatre from Monday 31 March to Saturday 12 April.
