Get in, loser, Mean Girls the musical is coming to Milton Keynes Theatre this month and it is going to be fetch.
Yes, it is going to happen: the smash-hit musical adaptation of the 2004 American teen comedy film, which starred Lindsay Lohan, is touring to the new city.
Having been seen by over 330,000 people in the West End, between June 2024 and June 2025, the pink world of the Plastics is now out on the road.
The Plastics are a trio of lionised frenemies, led by charming but ruthless Regina George. Together, Regina, Gretchen Wieners and Karen Smith rule North Shore High. Newcomer Cady Heron grew up on the African savanna and was home-schooled in the survival of the fittest by her zoologist parents. Nothing could have prepared her for the wild ways of high school though; it's a savage social jungle! When Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign and take her place on the throne, she learns the hard way that chasing popularity is not worth losing your sense of self for.
Theatregoers are promised familiar characters and plot points, razor-sharp wit and killer songs. Prepare for a fearless, all-singing and all-dancing show.
Mean Girls is written by Tina Fey (who also wrote, produced and acted in the film – she played maths teacher Ms Norbury). The show is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw (Aladdin, Dreamgirls), with music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde).
Faye Tozer (one-fifth of pop group Steps, 42nd Street, Singin’ in the Rain) will be playing Regina’s “cool mom” Mrs George, Cady’s mum Mrs Heron and maths teacher Ms Norbury. She will be joined by Emily Lane (Frozen) as outsider Cady Heron and Vivian Panka (Heathers) as ultimate queen bee Regina George.
Running time: Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, including an interval.
Mean Girls is at Milton Keynes Theatre from Tuesday 14 to Saturday 18 April.
