Badminton Improvers sessions to launch at Bletchley Leisure Centre this December

Bletchley Leisure Centre is offering new, affordable and professionally coached, Badminton Improvers sessions to everyone aged 16 and over starting this December.

They are designed to get more people taking part in the sport and are run in partnership with Badminton England, and supported by the Milton Keynes Badminton Community Network.

The sessions, which will take place in the bright sports hall, every Thursday evening from 6.30pm – 7.30pm, form part of Badminton England’s, The Discover Badminton 2017 -2025, strategy, which aims to grow the numbers taking part in the sport up to 420,000 by 2025.

Mike Piggford, relationship manager with Badminton England, said the partnership with Bletchley Leisure Centre had already introduced a fantastic number of new participants to the game: “Improvers sessions are a great opportunity for players of all abilities to develop technical and tactical skills with one of our registered coaches,” he said.

“Milton Keynes is a real hub for badminton activity. Whether you want to play competitively or just keep fit, these sessions are a fantastic way to develop your game.”

Initially the sessions at Bletchley will cost £4 per person on a turn up and play basis.

They also form part of Hertsmere Leisure’s wider Keep Active MK project, which includes different sporting activities and courses for different age groups and genders, all designed to get everyone back into their favourite sport or to have a go at one never tried before.

Ongoing Keep Active projects include Walking Netball, Back to Netball, Walking Football, and a term time after-school programme.
They are all run in partnership with national sport governing bodies, local charities, schools and sporting groups.
