CHRISTMAS: MK THEATRE DISTRICT LIGHTS UP WITH FESTIVE FUN

Light up your weekend with a visit to Milton Keynes Theatre District for the annual Christmas switch-on.

Sunday's (Nov 29) event blends tradition and fun with the charitable side – which is perfect, seeing as how this is the season for giving.

Free kids rides, entertainment and refreshments are on the menu, and Christmas stalls will tempt you; it really is time to get organised now, folks, and this blending of shopping with fun is a great excuse.

Cast your eyes - and ears – to the stage and enjoy performances by The Shures (above), MK's singing duo who recently dipped their toes into The X Factor machine, Yinka Williams, Scott Finley and Joe, starring as a certain Olly Murs.

MKCA Cheerleaders will show off their European Championship talents, and carols will sing out when community choirs make a nice noise.

He might be busy, but even Santa is taking time away from the grotto to pop along to the event.

Monies raised at the bash – which begins at 4pm – will be handed to Different Strokes (supporting younger stroke victims), and Dogs for Good (which you will know from its previous name, Dogs for the Disabled).

Representatives from the charities will be on hand to help with the illuminations, including Megan Giglia who suffered a life changing stroke aged just 27.

But Megan fought back and has gone on to be a Silver medal winning GB para-cyclist.

The switch will be flicked and the area illuminated between 6.30pm and 7pm.
