Xscape Milton Keynes is bringing back a bit of MK nostalgia this summer in celebration of the town’s 50th birthday celebrations. Who remembers meeting up with friends, putting on those leg warmers and lacing up those skates and heading to the infamous ‘Rollers’ back in the day?
Xscape has installed a roller rink on their piazza to let you re-live the old days and let your children experience the fun of learning to roller-skate for a new generation.
The Xscape front outside piazza will also be turned into ‘Summer Party Central’ for three weeks (14th August to 3rd September) where you can try your hand at giant Jenga, or maybe challenge the family to a game of noughts and crosses?
Get your photo taken on the specially installed grass furniture or snap a selfie with the themed summer photo boards. And it doesn’t stop there; across the August Bank Holiday weekend, Xscape will have a live music stage from 12-5pm plus some of their well-known restaurants will be offering food to dine al fresco.
General manager at Xscape MK, Carl Meale said: “Rollers was such an iconic venue of its time, we wanted to do something a bit different to celebrate MK’s 50th year, so bringing back an old-school roller rink seemed like a fantastic idea – parents can reminisce about their youth and their kids can have fun learning with their friends all over again.”
