Lesley Garrett to make guest appearance at Polymnia Choir's birthday concert in Milton Keynes

Polymnia Choir will celebrate its 10th birthday with a charity gala concert in the heart of Milton Keynes next Saturday (October 29) – and they've secured Britain's best-loved soprano for the event!

Lesley Garrett will perform at the concert, which will take place at the Church of Christ the Cornerstone.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Lesley has found time in her busy schedule to come to MK and join us for this very special evening,” said choir secretary Gina Johnson.

“She will be performing some of her favourite songs and joining the choir to sing iconic music by Mozart, Verdi and John Rutter together with well-known songs from musicals,” she said.
“John Byron will direct the choir in music with an English focus including Songs and Sonnets, George Shearing's jazz-based settings of Shakespeare, and a choral arrangement of Elgar's spell-binding Nimrod from the Enigma Variations,” she added.

Polymnia have enjoyed much success for their eclectic mix of classical, traditional and modern choral music from across the UK and Europe.

A trip to perform at the Ducal Palace in Mantua, Italy (home of Monteverdi for a long period of time) and a date at Stadium MK are among the highlights, with good reason – the stadium date was delivered to an audience of 30,000 and a television audience of millions as part of the 2015 Rugby World Cup!
