It is time to roll back the years for Milton Keynes Museum's tribute to 1940s Britain.
The weekend's 1940s event (September 1 & 2) is an important event in the museum's annual calendar, and an equally important guest is booked to appear - the RT Honourable Winston Churchill PM will be keeping an eye on the weekend's attractions, and with so much going on, he'll be kept very busy!
The 1940s was a time of war, turmoil, and rationing, but there will be no rationing of entertainment at this event.
If the weather is fine, you will need to look to the skies for a Dakota flypast (on the Saturday only), while on the ground, camps and displays by the RAF and American GIs will take attentions.
The WI, WRVS and Women's Land Army will be in attendance too, with displays focusing on women in war.
The vintage tearoom will be serving up strong brews, and dancing will be encouraged as forces favourite Miss Lola Lamour serenades the assembled, and over in the new gallery you can see how brides from the era would have walked down the aisle, with a display of wedding dresses.
The home guard battalions and the women's home guard auxiliaries will explore more about life in the war, and if you want to know more about the law at war, village bobbies will be on hand to help.
You can visit them in their pop-up police station, which has a ready-made cell, so be on your best behaviour to avoid being locked up!
The Ministry of Food will show you how to cook on rations, and the wartime garden is looking good just now. Be sure to pay it a visit and ask Mrs Skivvy how she has cultivated the area.
People needed to be thrifty in wartime, and popular historian and author Neil Storey returns to talk about men and women's fashions, and having to make do and mend.
Elsewhere, you will be able to check out some stunning examples of domestic vehicles from the 1940s, view the French military display of artefacts, and shop at the vintage trader stalls.
The museum will keep you fed and watered too, with savoury and sweet food at reasonable prices in the Granary Tea Room, and spam sandwiches offered from the NAFFI.
If you fancy something a little stronger than a coffee, tea or juice, pop to the museum's street of shops where the Angel Inn will be serving up beer.
The weekend is a terrific tribute to the sights, the sounds, and the people from 1940s Britain.
