The Woburn Triathlon returns in September - are you up for the challenge?

The Woburn Abbey Triathlon will take place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September.

The spectacular venue in Bedfordshire saw 2000 participants of all abilities take part in 2017 and tri for life are now looking for local businesses to take part in 2018.

The event offers a unique way to engage with both staff and customers. With distances from Supersprint to the challenging WoBurner middle distance triathlon, you can enter each race as an individual or a team, there is a race for every ability.

Set in the stunning grounds of Woburn Abbey and with a relaxed family focused atmosphere it’s a brilliant day out for everyone whether you’re an athlete or part of a cheering squad.

All triathletes complete their swim in the larger lake in front of the Abbey offering an improved swim experience and a shorter transition.

The cycle route also takes in some quintessentially British countryside around the local area, with the final flat run course enjoying stunning views of the Abbey grounds and the deer park.

Sunday is a day for families to join in the fun, with races for Junior triathletes aged 9-12 years and a separate race for those aged 13-16 years.

And for those who fancy trying out multi-sport at an even younger age, four to eight year olds, there is the opportunity to complete the Scootathlon. Involving a scoot, cycle and run over a small area in front of Woburn Abbey, this is a fantastic chance for youngsters to get involved in the day and enjoy being active.

tri for life has organised triathlons in support of charities for the last 10 years and during this time has raised over £2.4 million, supporting many worthy causes. In 2017 many participants raised vital funds, with profits from the event going to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Melanoma Focus Cancer Research.

“2017 was a milestone year for us,” says Marcus Anselm, trustee of tri for life. “It was amazing to break through 2,000 participants across the weekend, with the Sunday being completely sold out.
“We truly offer something for everyone, whether you are 4 years old, or 64 years old – wanting to do a super sprint or a middle distance.

"Not only that, but we’re supporting some phenomenal charities and ultimately everything we do is about giving back, just one of the many reasons why the Woburn weekend sets itself apart from all other events. We were delighted with the success of 2017 and look forward to building on this further and seeing more local companies join us in 2018.”
