The Masters of the Italian Baroque come under the spotlight at the next session of Exploring Music at the Church of Christ the Cornerstone.
Thursday's (July 28) event will turn its attentions to the work of Antonio Vivaldi.
Vivaldi's instrumental concertos, some 500 or so, represent one of the great peaks of Italian Baroque. He brought a new passion to the concerto form, a new vigour and awareness of instrumental colour and how to exploit it. No less impressive is his church music, which at time achieved true Venetian splendour.
Adrian Boynton will lead the talk, illustrated with CD recordings, which will explore Vivaldi's greatest concertos, and fine sacred works including Beatus Vir, Magnificat and Gloria in D.
Tickets are £5, payable on the door. The show begins at 7.30pm.
