Synopsis
Dick Cheney (Christian Bale) rose from being a College drop-out with a lack of ambition to being de facto leader of the United States after becoming George W. Bush’s (Sam Rockwell) Vice President during his 2001-2009 administration. His career, egged on by his wife Lynne (Amy Adams), encompasses true machiavellian zeal and survival.

Review by @Reelreviewer

The political satire is best marked by subtle, sly, sometimes sarcastic, always penetrating, insight about the machiavellian machinations behind the seat of power.

Vice, which details the career of political power player Dick Cheney and the deeply untrustworthy George W. Bush administration he served under, wilfully subverts this fashion by megaphoning its aims and objectives and symbolism.

The film - unaccountably garlanded for a slew of international awards - is about as subtle as a kick in the caucuses.

Yes the performances without exception are superb, as is the make-up employed to help the performers resemble the people they impersonate.

Amy Adams, as Cheney's driven, savvy wife Lynne is probably the best of them but Bale, an actor who more than any other in Hollywood has strived for perfection and excellence, with his mumbling voice and shifty gait, surely deserves the Best Actor Oscar now.
