FILM: INTERPRETATION OF KING LEAR ON THE BIG SCREEN AT MK GALLERY

A stunning 4K digital restoration of Akira Kurosawa's Ran shows at MK Gallery this Friday evening (Jan 29).

The 1980 release is a Japanese interpretation of King Lear, and is being housed under the Stony Stratford Celebrates Shakespeare festival, which launched last week and will host events through to 2017.

'A landmark of world cinema, this is a rousing, staggering epic and a haunting drama of timeless significance,' declared Film4.

If you fancy it, Ran begins at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 (£3).

You'll need to get comfortable though – it clocks in at a whopping 156 minutes in length.
