Little Women (2019).

Historical/Period/Epic

Director: Greta Gerwig. 2hr 14mins/134mins. (U)

Synopsis
This adaptation of the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott concerns four sisters and their personal, romantic trials and tribulations during and just after the American Civil War.

Review by ReelReviewer
I haven't read the famous Alcott novel but with writer/director Gerwig's intelligent, boisterous and fun stab at tackling the tome for a 21st century audience, being au fait with the source material isn't really necessary.

Yes, the flashbacks and flashforwards are grating to begin with but stick with it. Gerwig's approach accurately reflects the multiple and complicated romantic entanglements of the characters.

All of the performances are a delight, but Ronan as Jo and a punky Pugh as Amy lead the march (sisters).
