Milton Keynes pub sports a new look following six-figure investment

The Broughton in Milton Keynes threw its doors open last week and kicked off the new offering in style, showcasing the pub’s brand-new look following a six-figure makeover, which has created 30 new jobs.

The popular venue has been significantly refurbished throughout and boasts an impressive bar area, together with improved viewing facilities to host the latest sporting events.

The revamped venue on Milton Road reopened on Thursday 10 May where the celebrations began and continued throughout the weekend with a quiz night, Rock ‘n’ Roll bingo, disco karaoke and live music from local acts. The Broughton team also welcomed kick boxing champion, Kelly Haynes, Milton Keynes Lightening ice-hockey mascot and Broughton regular, Councillor John Bint, to try out the new facilities.

The place to be for big games, the Broughton is equipped with SKY, allowing sports fans to watch their heroes on multiple screens and with high quality sound throughout the venue.

The bar area has also been enhanced with the addition of contemporary tiling and an improved drinks range, with additional cask ales now available as well as great existing drink offers such as two bottles for £5 and selected drinks for as little as £2.89 every day. Guests can also enjoy their drinks in the extended beer garden which features additional seating and new outdoor lighting.

In addition to an extensive drinks collection, the new-look pub will continue to offer a range of great value food and special deals for locals to enjoy throughout the week – including two meals for £9.99 Monday to Friday, curry and a drink for £5.49 on Wednesdays, plus add a drink to any burger or selected grill for £1 Monday-Friday.

Mark Fitzsimon, general manager at the Broughton said: “We’ve had a fantastic time celebrating the reopening and our Milton Keynes neighbours really came out to support us. Our guests are at the heart of what we do, so it was great to be able to mark the reopening with the local community.

“It was a pleasure to welcome team members from Milton Keynes Lightening ice-hockey team and kick boxing champion, Kelly Haynes, to enjoy the new offering too – they really helped to kick off the festivities and got everyone in a party mood. Devon Louise, a Miss MK entrant who previously worked at the Broughton, also helped to add some more glamour to the opening.

“We’ve already had great feedback on the revamped bar and the sports viewing areas, with many guests planning their next visit around the upcoming matches.

“We’ll also be hosting a music festival, ‘May the Horse be with You’ on Saturday 26 May – so there will be plenty for our guests to get involved with during the coming weeks. The team and I can’t wait to welcome new and returning visitors to the Broughton very soon!”
