Milton Keynes restaurant Maaya in the English Curry Awards finals 2019

On Monday, Maaya Indian Kitchen and Bar was a finalist at the 9th English Curry Awards 2019.

One of just nine curry houses shortlisted in the South East Category, the team behind one of MK’s best-loved restaurants got to attend a lavish black-tie ceremony at The Birmingham Conference & Events Centre at the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre.

Although Maaya was pipped to the post on this occasion, the team is delighted that the restaurant is considered among the best in the country.

Mo Abdul, joint-owner and general manager at Maaya said: “Out of hundreds of nominations across the country, we were one of just nine finalists in the region and that is something to celebrate, even if we did not win overall this time.

"These awards showcase the strength, devotion, service, tasty food and best dining experiences provided by the top curry houses in the industry, and we are so proud to be among them!”

The English Curry Awards 2019 were organised by Oceanic Consulting, the UK’s leading ethnic awards company. With 13 years of experience, Oceanic Consulting hosts annual award ceremonies in major English, Scottish and Irish cities. Campaigns include the Curry Awards, Asian Business, Asian Food, British Muslim, British Indian and Britain’s Asian Wedding Awards.

Last month, Maaya was named the Best Indian Restaurant in Milton Keynes by LUX Magazine for the second year in a row.
