In light of World Elephant Day, Woburn Safari Park has issued stunning images of its beautiful Asian elephant herd enjoying themselves at the Park's Elephant Meadow.

The meadow boasts a generous 6000 square metres for the elephants to enjoy.

The pictures show calf Tarli and her mum Damini enjoying a walk in the Evergreens, Damini cooling down with an elephant-sized ice lolly and one of the herd stopping for a scratch on a walk!

Did you know?

Elephants are the largest land mammal in the world; they are strong, very intelligent and social animals.

In captivity they can live for between 60 and 75 years, and they grow up to 10 feet tall.

Elephants are herbivores and as you might expect, they aren't light on their feet - typically weighing between three and five tonnes!
