Health worker slams lack of social distancing at Milton Keynes supermarket

A health worker has criticised the lack of social distancing at a store in Milton Keynes.

Nicola Boakes is a Neonatal Nursery Nurse working in the neonatal unit at Milton Keynes Hospital which is currently adhering to strict safety measures.

She said: “We are limiting our visiting to one parent at a time, so new families are unable to spend time together, in order to protect their baby and abide by the social distancing.”

But Nicola said she was shocked when she paid a visit to the Asda superstore in Bletchley this week.

“I was completely disappointed and angry with what I saw,” she told Total MK.
“There was no social distancing at all, and up to 10 people per aisle.
“Whole families were there with their children; it seemed like a normal Saturday shopping trip.

“The rules have been put in place to protect us all and help slow the spread of Covid-19.
“I feel so upset and angry that I could now go to work and put my patients at potential risk because people are unable to abide by social distancing and isolation rules.”

A spokesman for Asda said: ’We are doing all we can to help to feed the nation and we know that the majority of customers continue to have a positive experience in our stores.”
