Milton Keynes man jailed for assault and making threats to kill

Following a police investigation, a man has been sentenced to more than four years’ imprisonment after he was convicted of multiple offences including assault and threats to kill in Milton Keynes.

Toby Evans, aged 24, of Sissinghurst Drive in Westcroft pleaded guilty to four counts of common assault, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), two counts of criminal damage and one count of making threats to kill, in a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on 10 February this year.

He returned to the same court on Tuesday (May 5) and was sentenced to a total of four years and four months’ imprisonment.

He was also made subject to an indefinite restraining order.

The conviction relates to a series of domestic-related incidents against two victims between April and June 2019.

The incidents were of assault and criminal damage against a woman aged in her twenties and assault against a man aged in his fifties.

Further to this, between 1 and 31 May 2010, Evans made threats to kill his female victim, causing fear that this threat would be carried out.

The victim sustained numerous bruises to her face and body, including carpet burns to her face where she was dragged along the floor in one of the instances.

The male victim sustained soft tissue damage to his nose and face as well as bruising.

Evans was originally arrested on 9 June last year and was charged via postal requisition on 9 October.

Investigating officer PC Nick Timms said: “I am very pleased with this conviction and Evans has now received a substantial custodial sentence.

“I would like to thank all of my colleagues who have been involved in this investigation and also pay tribute to both victims, who have supported police through what must have been a challenging time.

“Evans’s actions have brought harm to his victims and they will have to live with what he has done.

“I hope that this conviction and sentence brings some solace and closure for the systematic abuse they both endured.

“Thames Valley Police will never tolerate any form of domestic abuse. I would encourage other victims to come forward and be assured that they will be listened to and we will take action against offenders.

“Evans will now have to spend time in prison to reflect upon his crimes.”
