Could you take on the ‘Nice Bucket Challenge’ for Milton Keynes Hospice?

More than 70 local businesses, community groups and organisations are taking on the Willen Hospice ‘Nice Bucket Challenge’ in a bid to raise funds to support more people living with life-limiting illnesses in and around Milton Keynes.

With three weeks of the challenge left, the charity is calling on more people to join in.

The challenge invites local businesses and groups to pledge to fill their Nice Bucket with either £100 or £200 by the end of March. They can fill their bucket in any way they like, be it through simply popping in spare change, donating tips, selling cakes or using as a swear box in the office.

It’s all part of the charity’s ‘Hearts in Our Community’ appeal which aims to raise money that can help their specialist community nursing team to support more patients and their families in their own homes - where and when they need it most.

The Red Lion pub in Fenny Stratford was one of the first to take on the challenge. Landlady Karen Foster said: “We are really proud to be taking on the Nice Bucket Challenge for Willen. The Hospice cared for my mum so I have seen first-hand the fantastic care they provide.

"Our customers have been popping their pennies in our bucket on the bar and this Sunday we’ll be hosting a St Patrick’s Day celebration and inviting customers to help fill it by taking part in activities and donating what they can. Everyone is welcome so please pop down!”

To take on the Nice Bucket Challenge, call 01908 303071 or email communityfundraising@willen-hospice.org.uk Ideas of how to fill the buckets can be found on the Hospice website.

As an alternative to the Nice Bucket Challenge, supporters can donate just £5 to the appeal by texting ‘SWAN05 £5’ to 70070.

Donations can also be made by visiting www.willen-hospice.org.uk/hearts where there are a number of other ways to support the appeal.
