Heroes and Villains invade village in Milton Keynes

Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it’s Supercrow!

With the theme of ‘Heroes and Villains’, the 2019 Loughton Scarecrow Trail is set to wow visitors.

From fairy tales to cartoons, novels to films, you will be sure to find a favourite character amongst the many creations from local people and schools.

This fourth annual trail will create a fun opportunity to explore an old part of Milton Keynes that has grown and expanded with the city over the last 50 years and is now very much part of it.
The beautiful church of All Saints’, Loughton and its distinctive tower is one of the landmark buildings in this part of MK. All proceeds from the Trail will go to supporting the Church which celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2018.

The scarecrow entries will be judged by Helen Den Dulk, a fabric and fibre artist who is based at the Westbury Arts Centre, and Hywel Jones, Head of Development and Communications at MK Gallery.

As part of the nine-day trail, Loughton Baptist Church will have a ‘Scarecrow Stop’ on Saturday 22 June with children’s activities, BBQ and refreshments from 10am to 3pm. And the Studio on the Green will open its doors to visitors between 10am and 5pm on the weekend of 22-23 June, showcasing their beautifully crafted pottery and paintings.

Pick up your guide for the trail from All Saints’ Church on Saturday 15 and Saturday 22 June from 10.00am – 5.00pm, Sunday 16 June and Sunday 23 June from 11.00am – 5.00pm, priced just £3.

The guide includes a quiz for children, and a voting slip for the Visitors’ Choice Award – a chance to vote for your favourite scarecrow.

Why not stop by for refreshments at the Church between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Saturdays and 11.30am and 4.30pm on Sundays?
