Willen Hospice Scooterthon comes to Silverstone

Following the success of their Scooterthon earlier this year, Willen Hospice is delighted to announce they are taking the event to the iconic Silverstone race-track.

The Scooterthon will take place during school holidays on Wednesday 1 August. Children aged 3-11 are invited to take part in this exciting event.

“It’s the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy an evening out, with their children scooting around the very place that Lewis Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix five times," said a spokesman for the charity.

The event will be held in the Stowe Complex which has 360 degree views of Silverstone and all the atmosphere of a world-renowned race circuit. Stowe complex was originally a World War two airfield but is now used as one of the tracks where the F1 cars are tested.

Families are invited to arrive at 6.30pm for the children to be in the pit lane for a check-in. Set-off will be a 7.00 pm. The cost is just £10 per child and there’s an option of doing one lap (one mile) or two laps (two miles).

All children must be accompanied by an adult on the night. The viewing platform has full visibility of the track, which means the children are free to go around the circuit by themselves if they feel confident to do so.

Once again there will be medals and goodies for everyone who takes part. Willen Hospice’s mascot, Florence the Cow, will be cheering them on. Each child who raises more than £100 will be invited to a fantastic party this Autumn.

Willen Hospice relies on the support of local people to help them raise £9 every minute of the day to continue to offer life changing support to patients and their families in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. A JustGiving page can be set up to help children keep track of their sponsorship.
